Family.

The ones we're born with.

The ones we choose.

&

The ones that choose us.

When was the last time your parents heard about how great you were? When was the last time you thanked one of your friend’s parents for supporting, feeding, sheltering, and loving you?

What did I do?

I wrote letters to the people that raised my favorite people in the whole wide world.

I wanted to express to the parents of my closest friends just how thankful I am for raising such a wonderful human I get to share life with. Their son/daughter is now a part of my forever family, and I can never thank them enough for allowing such a blessing to exist in my life. I know all parents worry about their children and probably question themselves if they did a good enough job. Why not tell them just how wonderful of a job they have done.

How To Express Your Thanks For Raising Such A Wonderful Human

Where do you start?

All you really need is some paper, pen, envelope, stamp, and a heart full of love. The supplies are easy, the hard part is figuring out what to say. I want you to take a brief moment and think about your person. It could be a significant other, a new friend, an old friend. But sit and imagine: what/how do you feel when you think of this person? Do they make even the hardest of days possible? Are they a ray of sunshine when your days are cloudy? Think about just how much this person means to you. It would be best if you were a little emotional - this person means the WORLD to you. Let yourself get there.

How do you write it?

Imagine you’re writing a thank you note, but it’s the most important one you have ever written. It seems impossible to thank someone for creating life, but it is more than possible. You might want to start by explaining you found this idea from some crazy guy online; it makes you look a little less weird - and I am okay with being the crazy guy. But just express how thankful you are for your person. Tell the parents stories you remember, your favorite memory with this person, how they have helped you grow. You can’t mess this up. Anything you say will go a long way. But remember, you aren’t writing this letter for your favorite person… You’re doing it for their parents.

I wrote the letter. Now what?

Just like all the extra souvenirs you bought on vacation that won’t fit in your suitcase. You gotta mail that bad boy. I just have the addresses for most people in my life, because I do love sending books. But if you don’t have the address you are looking for, I have a few suggestions. You can always text their significant other or very close friend, just tell them its for a surprise. You can also use the WhitePages, everyone’s favorite address-stalking site. Or you could always ask the person directly, but that kind of ruins the surprise.

This is a frequently asked question?

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
